This summer, Little U. will be unveiling our brand new summer program, which will run from June 9-August 8.  Each week, we will focus on a different theme and end each week with a special event!  Our summer program will focus on social skills, teamwork, and a fun approach to social studies, science, math and literacy.  We will continue to review age-appropriate academic skills through a variety of child-directed and teacher-directed activities.

Our Summer Themes and Special Events:

June 9-13: Under the Sea Week

We'll take a trip into the ocean to experience what life is like for underwater creatures.  We'll learn about sea life from the tiniest shrimp to the biggest whale!  To end our week, we'll have a beach party, complete with bathing suits, sand and water play and an indoor picnic!

June 16-20: Farm and Zoo Week

Animals from aardvark to zebra will be our focus this week!  We'll learn about animal habitats, animal families, animals homes and lots of other great information.  We'll even get a chance to experience real animals!  Stay tuned for more details!

June 23-27: Pet Week

Our pets are part of our family and we want to learn all about animals that could be pets.  We'll also learn about the best ways to care for our little fuzzy (or not!) friends.  We'll host a special show and tell: Bring your Pet to School!

June 30-July 4: Independence Day Week

Did you know you can create fireworks in a plastic bag?  After this awesome week, you'll know how!  We'll celebrate our Independence Day in style with science experiments and art projects galore!  We'll finish off with a true blue July 4th cook out!

* school will be closed Friday, July 4th *

July 14-18: Rain Forest Week

Let's enter the jungle to learn about conservation, environment and wildlife.  We'll spend the week building a rain forest in our classrooms and celebrate with a party jungle style!  Just try to stay dry after this week!

July 21-25: Islands and Volcanoes Week

We want to enjoy our awesome rain forest for another week, so we'll spend some time expanding on our new knowledge of the tropics!  We'll build our own volcano and watch it erupt!  We'll also focus on some of the many land formations and other wonders of our world.  We'll learn the hula as part of our Hawaiian Luau to end this unit!

July 28-August 1: Sports Week

Come on, we could all use a little more exercise!  We'll learn about organized sports including basketball, baseball, and soccer.  We'll practice teamwork and organization to end our week with sports extravaganza!

August 40-August 8: Summer Fun Week

We'll close out our summer spectacular with an array of exciting games and activities.  We'll dance, sing, create, invent, experiment, experience, and enjoy!  We'll finish off with our first family picnic – more details to follow.
